It's short-sighted to claim one position or the other. Trying to be up-tempo might be worse for the team now, but it might be much better for the team down the road.
You are really pushing this excuses thing hard, but you seem really unwilling to look at any form of tolerance of mistakes or at legitimate reasons for struggles as anything but excuses. That's wrongheaded and unfair, in my opinion. Like I said - tons of screwing up, but there's plenty that's understandable and even forgivable, too.
