Some tricks I employed while at BYU undergrad and MBA program.
MBA was not from BYU but many of these points were still valid. I graduated in 2007 from BYU with an undergrad so some of this might be dated and not applicable.

1. If you want to get into the Business Marriott school take your prereq classes at the salt lake center. Econ, Calc 119, Statistics. Accounting wasn't too bad regular style at BYU. This is what the athletes do, you think they are beating out the RM balding nerd who can't get dates and studies Econ for 4 hours a day in the regular Kerl class taught at BYU? Yewt no!!! they are going to the salt lake center, sleeping in class and getting an A.

2. Bold face words. If you look at the diagrams, understand the pictures and memorize the definition of the bold face words you are golden in 95% of undergrad classes. I learned this after I spent some time reading some dumb book assigned for American Heritage that wasn't even on the final or a test otherwise. WASTE of Time. Figure out what is busy work and not important and stop doing it. Some professors are notorious for this.

3. Ask around for the easiest religion teachers. I don't want to fight and scrape for a B in a religion class. Then take whatever else class he is teaching.

4. Don't do honors - it's just stupid and no one cares.

5. Picking the easiest professors trumps "fits my schedule perfectly". See number 1. You'll make up for that time saved with the schedule being "perfect". For example, taking a night class on Tuesday nights is going to be easier than the same class taught on T,TH or MWF. Saw this to be true in near all cases.

6. Get in good with TA's and make sure they know your name. Make up an excuse to talk to them if you need to. If it's a math class always go to the math lab to do your homework. These people are grading your crap, it's best for you if they know you.

7. First two days of class are worthless and can be skipped. You really need the syllabus read to you when it's availabe online? People are adding and dropping, it's a mess that first week. If the class only meets once a week ignore this advice. But if it's a MWF, see ya Friday.

8. Sometimes spring & summer terms you can take a class from a grad student or something that is WAY easier to get an A in than from the long term professor who teaches Fall & winter. Look for it, ask for it, make it happen. Sometimes you can get a class added if you get some signatures or implore about it.

9. Older additions of books are often just fine and a 10th the price. You can email the professor a lot of times (unless he wrote the book - yewtish) and he can confirm if you're nervous. I've seen editions that were exactly the same (from the older edition) except for pictures and graphs. Even the typo's weren't fixed. It's ridiculous, don't give them your money if you don't have to. You often don't have to.

10. In finals prep attend the TA's study sessions. If they are cool with you and know you somtimes you can get extra hints and tips on what is on the final. I've been to these study sessions where they were using the exact test to ask you "review questions". In short, you are missing out big time if you don't attend these.
