I have always felt that Riley looked good because Jake played against all the good teams on the schedule. Riley put up good numbers against the Idaho States of the world that year. If they had left Heaps as the starter we would have ended with exactly the same record. In fact we "may" have beat TCU at Jerry World because Riley - in true Riley fashion - was the direct cause of that loss. Of course to counter that we may have lost to USU because no QB in the world throws those hail marys that Riley threw at the end of that game.
