some good points but as a point of reference most Bowls lose money for the teams
even UConn lost money going to a BCS bowl. Bowls existed in the past to maximize revenue for the bowls. Now that ESPN owns most of them they are to maximize TV revenue...most schools will still not make money on bowls.

But yes this is a mess. If they end up as employees it will be the end of CFB as we know it. Maybe that would be a good thing, but no school is going to put money into a program that doesn't bring incremental dollars to the school. And the facts are that most schools lose money on sports, they are just subsidized by the students or states. Sports bring other things to the schools that then translate into money.

BYU made about $4M last year, but they never paid the church back for the millions spent on the stadium improvements in 1982...so there really isn't any money.
