Given that I own a recruiting firm.....
I would say that you just happen to run into a poorly trained recruiter. If you happened to be paid more than the position is offering, then you aren't a fit for the role...the recruiter should waste his/her/your time make a graceful exit (keep the door open for the future) and ask if you know anyone that might be a fit for the role.

Unfortunately, entry level recruiters don't necessarily end up with the right mentor or they sometimes think it's worth trying to push forward.

I won't waste my time chatting with someone unless they are a fit for the key 3 areas. $, location, skillset.... and there you have it.
