I know people are harping on the cost of housing, but you have to realize
EVERYTHING costs more in CA. Gas, food, water, taxes up the wazoo. Also, I would spend a few afternoons on the highways and freeways of SoCal to make sure you're ready to face that every single day. I got accepted into a UCLA grad program, but had to turn it down because my wife freaking hated the traffic and congestion.
