The only reason to be skeptical is if these posts are purposefully trying to deceive...and I doubt any of them are posting the info as a big [date] fool's joke.

Anyone that has negotiations as a major part of their daily work life knows that "done" deals can go south on you very unexpectedly. I don't have any inside info, but I would bet there were tentative pre-invite agreements of BYU's inclusion that people found out about and shared with us in their excitement. Then, before the agreements could be finalized (and an official invite extended), the negotiation turned south quickly.

In then end, the insiders were not as incorrect as many would like to string them up for.
