Of all the things to consider when selecting a captain, how good a player you are (or potentially will be) is down the list a ways. Bronco (or any other coach) would be an idiot if he said "your vote for captain should go to whoever you think is the best player". The ability of a player and/or the stats he has put up are important traits, but not the most important traits when considering who should be a team captain.
