You'll be glad you did... unless you aren't.
I am pro rescue myself but you take risks when you rescue. You don't have the history and genetics of the dog for any leading indicators of issues. There could be behavior or health issues that surprise you.

Our current dog is a rescue and we will likely rescue again (though our next dog(s) will be Danes from a reputable breeder) in the future but breeders (not puppy mills) have their place.
