I did band in high school in the south and loved it, it was incredibly fun. Then I came to BYU and did their band for a year before the mission. I didn't rejoin after I got back; their style is too conservative for me. Geeky and more focus on "musicality" than on crowd pleasing, which is what marching bands are really intended for anyway. Seriously, we did show tunes for one halftime show. Come on.
