Medically, we comment on bodies all the time and its appropriate
If someone is skeletal, we don't pretend that they are fine. We tell them that they need help (and they do). We have PSA's about anorexia and bulemia and various other campaigns. The message that the obese need help is out there, but given the scope of the issue, it needs to be out there more - PSA, campaigns, fundraising like Susan G Komen, etc. I am not a big fan of pointing out someones obesity. It's often pointless because the recipient never hears "I care about you and you need help" no matter how its worded. They just hear "Hey fatty, put the donut down". But in the same vein, the obese need to stop making online posts that they are just fine the way the are (they are not) and others need to quit liking and thumbs uppin such posts. It cuts both ways. And its not true that their lifestyle has no impact on others. It very much does. As a society, we need to address this more seriously in the same way we address anorexia seriously.
