everyday employees, who volunteer for compensation and can walk away at any time with no further repercussions.

Indentured servitude is also a poor comparison because there is no contract they are bound to that they would be considered a runaway and would be punishable, if they wanted out.

What's your take on unpaid internships where all these interns are given is valuable experience/opportunity? Slaves? Oh the horror!
