It is tough work, but someone has to do it. May as well be me.
For a long time I have read the posts on how fans from opposing schools treat BYU fans--and how classless non-BYU fans are at times. I have no reason to doubt these reports, but I kind of want to investigate it for myself

I have decided to research this, and see this first hand. To do so, I am going to buy a BYU hoodie and start going to some of the BYU road games, for football, basketball, and maybe volleyball. I plan to keep notes regarding my experiences, and how I am treated at these other schools. Dressed in my BYU hoodie I will have no problem passing for a Cougar fan--I am white, middle age, relatively short hair, and I do not smell of alcohol or tobacco.

I think I am as qualified as anyone to conduct this research. While I am a Ute, I also like BYU, and enjoy watching them and cheering on the Cougars, and I think I am relatively unbiased. I plan on attending about 8 away football games and 8 away basketball games over the next 3 years--I want this to be quality research, with a good sample size.

As I note in the header, this is tough work--following BYU on a bunch of road games all over the country. I may even have to go to bowl games. Obviously this will be a sacrifice for me and my family. But I am up to it. My first game in this role will be at Boise State. I plan to file interim reports as I go along.
