Another question: The scammers had my wife download and run a program called ammyy. She then gave them permission to access her computer remotely through this program. They had access for probably about 10 minutes. What kind of damage could they have done in this time? I understand they could download viruses/malware etc...onto her computer during this time. Could they have removed documents and other sensitive data from her computer as well? We have some documents sitting on her desktop that included very sensitive personal information (social security numbers, etc). Just trying to figure out how far we need to go in terms of protecting ourselves.

Honestly, I'm pretty shocked how easily my wife fell for this scam. She is a very smart girl who is usually very cautious, but isn't tech savy and so the tech mumbo jumbo the scammers used worked on her. Let this be a warning to all CBers, talk with your wives/kids about this kind of thing to make sure they don't fall victims as well.
