BYU would want to soften its schedule
I think BYU would play 1 light game, Utah State and then one tough game. They might keep Boise State, but they are going to have a tougher schedule with the Big 12. Weber State, Utah State and then Boise State or Utah would be a good OOC schedule.

In Indy, BYU has to toughen its schedule in September because it's tougher to get the marquee games in October and November. In the Big 12, BYU would be playing teams like OU, Baylor, Texas and West Virginia late in the year, so softer early schedules would be better.

Here is Texas 2014 schedule:

8/30/2014 North Texas 7 p.m. Austin, Texas Longhorn Network presented by Southwest Airlines Details
9/6/2014 BYU 6:30 p.m. Austin, Texas FS1 presented by St. David's HealthCare Details
9/13/2014 UCLA 7 p.m. Arlington, Texas FOX The AdvoCare Cowboys Showdown Details
9/27/2014 Kansas TBA Lawrence, Kan. TBA Details
10/4/2014 Baylor TBA Austin, Texas TBA presented by H-E-B Details
10/11/2014 Oklahoma TBA Dallas, Texas TBA AT&T Red River Showdown Details
10/18/2014 Iowa State 7 p.m. Austin, Texas Longhorn Network Details
10/25/2014 Kansas State TBA Manhattan, Kan. TBA Details
11/1/2014 Texas Tech TBA Lubbock, Texas TBA Details
11/8/2014 West Virginia TBA Austin, Texas TBA presented by YP Details
11/15/2014 Oklahoma State TBA Stillwater, Okla. TBA Details
11/27/2014 TCU 6:30 p.m. Austin, Texas FS1

Notice the N.Texas game, then 2 tougher OOC games (BYU and UCLA) and then they go into Big 12 play. BYU would be smart to emulate this strategy.
