Knowing several people personally who spent time
in various professional sports and associating with the athletes wile I was going to BYU - it amazes me that any of them avoid these kinds of problems. Outside of BYU and a little inside BYU, the culture of excess and adulation is so pervasive it is almost irresistible. Add to that the attitude that has rookies in their first team meeting told "what happens on the road stays on the road" what 24-26 year old is that strong?

I think for every Steve Young and John Beck there are a lot of BYU players that struggle. I wonder if that is part of the reason Andy Reid seems to have a soft spot for BYU players. He can give them an environment that will give them a fighting chance.

It seems Max is in the early stages of the crash so hopefully the pain and embarrassment, and family support get him back on his feet quickly.
