My son played D-3 hoops
Some things to consider: 1-He might be the only LDS student in the entire school. Most smaller schools will not have an institute. 2-Pick the school based on academics and not based on athletics. D-3 student athletes often drop athletics after a couple of years. 3-Don't worry too much about the private/public school issue. Bright kids will do well regardless of their high school history. Parents often send their kids to private school so they can brag at cocktail parties more than for the child's education. 4-The schools you mentioned are great liberal arts colleges...with an emphasis on liberal. An active LDS will have a culture shock. 5-The schools you mentioned all cost $40k+ per year. D-3s don't do scholarships but they will do grants. Make sure they are very generous with their grants. You should be able to get "net tuition" in the $20k range...which for that kind of education is very good.

You can board mail me if you need any further information.
