True except for the opponent prep film. BYU has Video staff devoted fulltime to
gathering, editing and distributing film for analysis and game prep.

Martzen is devoted full time to recruiting. He spends the majority of his time viewing HS game video. The film distribution you are talking about is of HS players that he gives to coaches for their blessing on going after a player.

Martzen and his assistant(s) also do the preliminary research to determine whether a player is a good fit for BYU outside of Football.

As you said, this allows the staff to be much more focused, all of the extra work they had to do has now been removed and they simply have to sell the program and keep an eye open for any red flags.

The biggest result from this is that BYU can widen their pool of players significantly. Whereas previously, due to the huge amount of work involved where BYU is concerned, the number of players the coaches used to be able to realistically review was limited and they often settled for low hanging fruit(high character LDS kids). Now the recruiting staff can do due diligence on a kid that MIGHT be a BYU fit and if it doesn't pan out in the research no time is lost by the coaches.
