Are you the younger bro of BYU71? It's because....
....he's not doing the job as a secondary duty because his primary duty is being a position coach. In the past BYU always doubled up this duty on a position coach, in the past it was Joey DuPaix who was the RB Coach. During the season recruiting kind of falls off the radar for assistant coaches because everything is about getting ready for the next game. Having a full time coordinator like Martzen allows the assistant coaches to focus on their primary duties and we still have an assistant focusing on the recruits.

Plus Martzen is utilizing Social Media, etc better than BYU normally does to stay on the kids radars. Also, I'm guessing he's prolly an amazing salesman too because last year's haul included more than one kid that USC absolutely put the full court press on to get from us (Warner and Kurtz) that in the past we would lose that battle, had us totally in the running right down to the very 11th hour with another kid that we'd normally have no biz with going up against USC (Mama) and got another kid to reneg on his commitment to freaking Stanford (Uriah L) on signing day and then managed to reel back in some kids we were losing the commitment on (Nacua).

That was an amazing first recruiting class for him and easily cemented his worth as an RC. When do you ever remember BYU having such an exciting Signing Day? Normally it's kind of boring with the occasional sad news that we lost a kid or two we were hoping for but didn't really expect to get.

Dude's earned his pay many times over.
