Unfortunately the only way to get the depth you speak of
is to actually be in one of those conferences. BYU has always struggled with depth, this is nothing new. We are now in a day and age where players are not willing to be a backup for a couple of years to develop and become better and learn a system. If you don't start immediately you move to a new school. BYU isn't attractive enough of a destination for great athletes to sit and wait on the bench. We are not Texas, we are not FSU, we never have been and I don't understand why this is such a surprise to you. Our talent level has increased since we left the MWC, but not anywhere near the level many on this board seem to think. BYU has never been good enough to just show up and win. To think you can lose your leaders and best players on both sides of the ball and have no effect on the outcome of games is just naive.

Yes 2 turnovers deep in your own territory are devastating. Both turned into cheap touchdowns for Nevada, and that was the difference in the game. They took the ball from our offense, and gave them a short field, odds are you are going to give up more points in that situation, it doesn't matter what your talent level is as it effects every level of football.
