We're a well-respected, 2nd tier program and our results on the field,
the kind of talent we recruit, and the number of guys we put into the NFL has been pretty consistent with that classification. In addition, our program must exist within some constraints which have been widely discussed and we all know about. I'm not saying we'll never have a special season, or even a NC, but when and if it happens, it will be the result of a perfect storm of luck, some special talent, and a lot of overachievement. Sure we're all disappointed when things don't fall into place, but it's quite another thing to scream for coaches jobs. If you have a false belief that BYU is an elite program in the same ranks as the top P5 teams, or have a sense of entitlement as a fan that we deserve to have an elite program, and not just a good program, this will lead you to have unrealistic expectations that we should be in the hunt for a national championship year in and year out, or even every 3-4 years.
