It depends on one's career aspirations, but one's options are greatly enhanced
as a cross-functional manager with the MBA.

A lot of computer science undergrad/MBA students I went to school with didn't just want to be programmers or developers for their entire career, and an MBA can help bridge the soft skills and business savvy gap to get into other areas of the business that might be more fulfilling to some. I know a guy working in HR at a top tech company as a program manager helping them develop their internal systems - making a lot more than he would without the MBA, enjoying his work more, and according to him he has a lot greater future earning potential. I know another guy in marketing working as a product manager, so he's not actually doing the development, but his background helps him to understand what is possible and gives him some credibility with his developers. He has also moved up much faster than he would have without the MBA.
