Would you accept the hypothesis that the coaches have performed that task
well with previous players? That when BYU was consistently producing top 20 defensive numbers, it was with the same coaches, but different players? From that, can't we assume that the coaches know what they are doing, have a proven system for doing it, and are coaching the same schemes and techniques that they always have? Isn't it correct to say that the only thing that has changed is the players?

Of course, we have to assume some of that since none of us have been to practices either then or now. But isn't it more logical to say that the same coaches that have been extremely successful in the past wouldn't be the ones suddenly struggling to know how to get good results?
