Of course I have sympathy.
That's not the issue.
The issue is what should be done about it. And I don't think the visible exceptions (and they are very rare exceptions) justify the massive overhaul that would adversely affect so many more athletes.
PS - The vast vast vast majority of college football players do not increase university revenue.
