...great programs churn out great assistants who become tomorrow's great coordinators, etc. They don't just hand the whistle to the guy to their left in the office because he happened to be there when you had an opening. Bronco needs to treat his coordinator positions like they're "chosen" coaches.
You look at Lavell's best years and his GA and position coaches were a who's who of brilliant minds. Coaches like Mike Leach, Mike Holmgren, Brian Billick, Ted Tollner, Doug Scovil, Dave Kragthorpe, Fred Whittingham Sr, Andy Reid, Norm Chow, etc all spent time working for him in Provo to learn from him and to build their resume on their way to greatness. We're talking later Super Bowl winning coaches, NFC champion HC's, NFL coaches, NCAA D-1 HC's, etc.
They in turn recruited great players to Provo.
