Wow, talk over protective. You throw their candy away? That's like telling

your child they can only pick 2 of their birthday presents their friends gave them and throw the rest in the garbage. Let your kids have their fun. I brought home pillow cases full of candy and have never had a cavity, and those are fond memories I still look back on every Halloween.
