My wife and I were helping the inlaws clean out the kitchen a few years ago.

Found some seasonings that were produced in the 70's. Some were in the 80's and 90's. I was disgusted. "Waste not want not" instantly turned into one of the most agitating expressions to my ears.

I'm like you.... If it's expired, I chuck it. No questions asked. Enjoy the weevil sponge for breakfast. Sounds healthy.
