Australian shepherds are great with the kids and are wary of strangers.
Anatolian shepherd and great Pyrenees are huge. Great with the kids as they view them as part of the herd. They scare the snot out of anyone who comes by simply because of their size and they have also been aggressive to a couple friends they didn't recognize.
