labradoodles can be as big (or bigger) than German Shepherds.
My friend has an 85 lb labradoole which stands 28" at the shoulder and can easily rest his head on a table with all four paws on the ground.
What about a cockapoo? (sounds vulgar, I know). Middle-sided dogs, or even small (15-30 lbs), fashionable mix breed, which also do not shed.
