Yep, I think for our generation, the retirement de jour
will not be the full retirement we saw with our Greatest Generation grandparents.

Instead, I think even many of those who have saved reasonably well will end up in part-time consulting type gigs.

There are a couple of retirement age guys who already do that at my company. Work as consultants 6-8 hours a day, 3 days a week (usually Tues-Thurs) and take 10-12 weeks off every year.

In many respects, it's a good retirement. They keep their minds active, have just enough to do to not be bored, and still have enough coin to take some nice trips during those 10-12 weeks of vacation (which, as empty-nesters, they don't have to line up with school schedules), plus they get at least a 4 day weekend every week.
