When it gets in and under the carpet I've found it helpful to first use baby powder, talcum powder, foot powder or baking soda to absorb the liquid, then vacuum it up to remove it. Repeat the process as needed before turning to wet treatments. This has consistently helped get the odor to a level that is tolerable and eventually fades away. Good luck.
