Favors did. I don't disagree that Kanter is a quality big man ... which is why he may get us a quality SG or SF in a trade. My reasoning is ...
1. Kanter scores and gets rebounds but doesn't defend very well and does nothing else. Both Favors and Gobert get a lot more assists, steals, blocks and rebound at a higher rate. Kanter turns the ball over more than both.
2. Favors and Gobert should be the Jazz' starting big men going forward. With Kanter about to get a large FA contract, should the Jazz match only to have him come off the bench ? Favors is already signed for another 3 yrs at a very reasonable salary and Gobert is under his rookie contract for another 3 yrs too.
3. The Jazz sorely need outside shooting and a quality SG or SF would be great for moving the team forward.
4. This upcoming draft has a bunch of quality big men to come off the Jazz bench for a few yrs.
