Place box on flame with meat away from flame. It will work.

lump charcoal lit in a pan maybe? Something for smoke at least.

I use the Texas crutch when the internal temp gets to 150. 1 unwrap at about 190

I've done barbecue on a grill but never brisket. Brisket can be finicky.
