you think MLB's owners voluntarily took on more tax liability? No. There are other ways to do the same thing.
We could insist the NFL drop that status and it would make some NY law firms a lot of money doing restructuring but it would do zero for tax revenues.
In the face of that, why bother? Symbolic value?
