Can someone tell me VERY directly what the required academic numbers are for BYU
scholarship athletes as compared to Utah and Utah State? Like minimum GPA, ACT score? Thanks. And 2nd, have those (BYU's) numbers changed from any point in the past?

BYU = 3.3 and a 19. Utah is a 2.6 with an 18 and USU is 2.5 with a 19

That's a pretty big difference and fairly high GPA standard for BYU

So how does it work for byu if you get lets say a 25 on the act? 3.3 gpa still?

Got it. I suspect a 29 ACT and 2.3 gpa would be enough for Ahtlete.

BYU can lower them. BYU likes it when people talk about their high standards.

The article I posted below says it is a sliding scale.

Yes they can and yes they do. Quite often actually.

When do they lower them? based in the individual?

An athlete accepted with low GPA/ACT would get eaten alive at BYU.

3.3 can actually be pretty tough at BYU, depending on major of course

These are Highschool GPA and ACT. 1.8 for first semester in College.

Those are averages, not requirements.

And that appears to be for general students, not Athletes.

I dont have a problem with that because you go to school

If a player cannot maintain a 3.3 GPA, what makes you think they would be a good

I dont think GPA tells the whole story
PolarisPrime

Why settle for 3.3 GPA? Let's have real standards; how about 3.8?
ArcticKat

Should schools have an "Athletics" Major?
CosmoK
