First, nobody is let into the arena early. I can personally account for that.
As far as who's camping.. most groups take shifts. They always have multiple people in line, but obviously a whole group of 15 isn't there at once. There will be 3 tents for that group, 5 people to a tent, and 1 person at the tent at all time, per the rules. There isn't a situation where those kids don't wait in line, and then get good seats.
Football: There were 6 seats saved in the front row by the portal that say "reserved for roc app winners" as the grand prize for the roc app last year was front row seats. So 3 kids, who attended the most sporting events in 2013-2014, got those seats. Deservedly so, in our opinion.
The red head kid is Chad. He is the president of the ROC board this year, and not an employee. He literally camps out for every game. As the leader, he works hand in hand with sports marketing, and helps prepare a lot of stuff for the ROC (the flag, balloons, signs, randals, etc). Sometimes he comes in to get, or put away, those materials, but he has never ever had a seat saved for him.
We truly love that you are making these observations and want to make sure that everyone is as happy as possible. Despite the answers we give to your concerns, there are surely more students who feel the same way and won't see this reply. If you have any ideas for what we can do to improve everyone's experience, please get in contact with us either through twitter or by emailing us at theroc@byu.edu
