Neilson will never be a post player
Any time spent on making him a post offensive threat would be wasted. Instead of trying to copy Karnowski, if I were Neilson, I would try and copy Wiltjer. Neilson has a lot of skill, finesse, and touch. You can tell watching him, he wants to be a wing. Either he could be a guy like Wiltjer or Rose should take another page out of the Mark Few handbook and find him a different program. If there is room for a poor-man's Wiltjer at BYU, Neilson needs to show that he can hit the trail three, receive the ball in the high post and dumps it down low or take a step into the lane and lean in for a 12 footer, pump fake your man in the air and lean in for a floater. That kind of role would much more closely fit Neilson's personality.

Kaufusi needs to get in the weight room all summer. Lift, lift, lift. Kaufusi has too much ground to make up in becoming an offensive threat on the low post and certainly hasn't show the hands to get there. Build on his strengths. He is aggressive, he loves to compete, and he is athletic. Make him a rim protecting nightmare for other WCC teams.

Rose and Pope need to do a better job putting Bartley in situations where he can succeed. Again, it is knowing the personality of your player and going with it. Sticking with the Gonzaga theme you started (they are the league standard), have Bartley focus on being a lock-down defender like Gary Bell Jr. Heavens knows BYU needs one. And Bartley is a team guy. On offense, tell him he has the freedom to shoot the open three and go to the offensive glass when the opportunity is there. Don't ask anything more. Once he is comfortable with that, I would like to see Bartley develop a low post game. With his strength and mass, he could out-quick a bigger guy inside or elevate over a smaller man. Just don't ask him to break the defense down with the dribble drive.
