Doing it this year for the first time with my 4th grade daughter
who has a rare learning disability (not noticeable by hardly anyone though) and it has been a huge success. She is learning much better and quicker and her confidence is much improved. Her school teacher and an independent counselor both said she would do better in a 1x1 learning environment than in public schools and that has been the case.

I used to be completely against homeschooling, but now that I've seen it first hand I have a different opinion. My wife is also very capable and willing so that helps. My other kids are in public school, but I'm not completely against homeschooling them in the future. It opens up your schedule so much more (can take trips when no one else does) and kids days can be much more useful (homeschooling takes about half the time that public schools take).
