I have a book called "Tolkien's Bestiary" which I bought as a kid.
It is like an encyclopedia for Tolkien's books (nerdy, I know). The art in the film is very similar to the art used in the encyclopedia, including the caves and mines and buildings.

You must have a bland imagination while reading books

There are two types of imagination: realistic (me) and unrealistic (Jackson)

The best fantasy makes it believable and realistic. You are wrong. I am right.

Interesting. Was the art done by or sanctioned by Tolkien?

No, it was by David Day. Tolkien's been dead for a long time.
