Every school has pros and cons. Although Boise State doesn't have an honor code, they do have to convince players that Boise isn't the dark side of the moon. Hawaii has to get players comfortable with the idea of playing at odd times and flying 5+ hours to every away game.
Other schools also have stringent codes of conduct (Notre Dame) or high admissions standards (Wisconsin, Stanford), yet they field competitive programs, too.
It always bugs me that some people are compelled to point out every disadvantage (real or perceived) that BYU has, as if it somehow makes their successes greater.
