You're being disingenuous. Virtually no one on this board wants Bronco to fail
(a few Utes aside) because if he fails it means their team fails. However, there are plenty who would like to see their team succeed...and they do not feel that is likely to happen going forward under Bronco given his ten year track record in Provo thus far.

The uniqueness of BYU fits the uniqueness of Bronco Mendenhall more closely than any other programs he could coach at. The things you listed as hinderances to success (academics, "Draconian honor code", Provo - meaning an LDS-heavy culture) are all things that Bronco naturally gravitate toward. Bronco's "work hard" mentality is also encapsulated by the players at a place like BYU as well as anywhere else. That is a good thing from the standpoint of the coach fitting the program. But obviously it all still has not translated to the on-field success that many believe could have been achieved.

I doubt there is another head coaching job where Bronco fits better than he does at BYU. For that reason I suspect there is not another place where he would have more success then he has had at BYU. We all wish that success would have been greater than it has been though.

FTR, Tennessee is going to comoete for the SEC East this year and the SEC next. The have sucked...but they have a coach doing all the right things (Jones) after a coach who stagnated (Dooley). They didn't take a decade to move past a coach, nor did they let their program be paralyzed with worrying "what if the next guy isn't as good". Tennessee has done exactly what I am on record multiple times as saying BYU can and should do to change direction. So thank you for bringing them up in your post because I had made that comparison before.
