why do we have the combine? None of that represents what they are able to do in a real game situation. They are wearing shorts for goodness sake!

NFL is all about measurables first, and then they look at what you can do on the field. It doesn't matter how well coached you are or how well you understand defensive and offensive systems, if you don't run the cone drill or the 40 fast enough you aren't getting picked.

BYU has a lack of talent where it comes to measurables. I would be interested to see if you put all division 1 football programs through the combine and averaged out the results for the whole team where we would stack up in the country. My guess is somewhere in the 50th percentile.

I think we win games and have a successful program despite our lack of natural athleticism. Which would point to coaching as being a big positive rather than a negative as a lot of people think. That's just the way I see it.
