Good points
I recently found out that my sister signed up to sell Norwex (sp??), and my mom was telling me about how she made $450 from holding one party. The problem (as I explained it to my mom) is that her friends will eventually get tired of being hit up to attend her parties. It gets old.

When we lived in the Midwest, a lot of the moms in our ward and neighborhood (both LDS and not LDS) were constantly trying to hold "parties". It got really old--and my wife had to hurt some people's feelings because she eventually refused to attend their parties (she felt like she was being used.) All of the Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Cutco, Jewelry, Modest Clothing, Swimwear, Adult novelties, etc. parties were being driven by one thing...greed. These people were willing to leverage their relationships so that they could "earn" prizes and perks. Our neighbor openly bragged about all of her new Pampered Chef stuff she "earned" by hosting several parties at her house--she got a really dumb look on her face when she realized what she said in front of us. Several women in our ward were holding parties for the same companies, so there was huge overlap and over-saturation. I really have a hard time especially when church relationships are used for MLM purposes--it's simply wrong and can damage relationships with other church members.
