RE: The moment when my feelings on BYU Football/Sports in general changed...
(kccougar)

I enjoyed reading your fun and interesting post. I like your writing style. We have not had a Draft system in the military since the 70’s.

Football for many of us is a time for fantasy; a time for yelling and screaming; a time for research and development of ideas for making our team all that it can be; a time showing the world how great our team is, while banging our chest with our fist, or when we have our hearts broken because our team did not live up to expectations.

For some of us, this is a very important diversion from the everyday demands of life at work, at church, at home, and with society in general. Yes it is a fantasy, but for some of us, that fantasy is a real and an important part of our lives and we cherish it.

It is understandable that for some, football is not that important and to view us that show that football is important to us, we must look weak, out of touch with reality, with a loss of focus on what is real in life, and all the other negative terms that one might want to attach
to it. That’s okay. Enjoy your real life, as some of us enjoy both the real life and our fantasies.
