i agree on San Jose
there are like 1,000,000 people living there. But, let's be honest, it's an office park suburb of San Francisco. It just happens to have the most flat, developable land of any area surrounding SF Bay--so it got filled up the most by office parks, blah architecture, and strip malls.

San Francisco and Oakland are way more interesting cities and they both feel more urban.
