dealt with that every time we play P5 teams, right? That was the issue in the 80's, 90's, 00's, and today. You could probably say that every time we play a decent team. We can argue the recruiting star system if you'd like, but we'll agree that at the end of the day the star system is an indicator of possible potential, not of what a player will actually become at the college level. A lot of those 4 or 5 star recruits never see the light of day at the FBS level. They might be deeper than us (no might about it actually), but what damage can a 5 star sophomore that doesn't see the field against BYU do?
The way I see it, anything that can be said about this UCLA team could have been said about the great Texas team last year. Coincidentally, this UCLA team played the Texas team we pummeled last year the very next week. We played Texas in Austin, they played Texas 3 hours away on a neutral field. Our 3 four star recruits destroyed Texas while their 5 and 4 star recruits barely squeaked out a win in the last minute.
