Lots of interesting opinions here. There have certainly been issues with
software. Avionics therefore suffer, but much of this has been taken care of already. The Air Force believes in, "Spiral Development" meaning they get the birds and changes occur afterwards. This is both because of fiscal realities in an ever shrinking Air Force budget under this bozo of a president, and because the crafts are both extremely powerful and capable as is - although the software is a real issue. None of this stuff has anything to do with stealth capabilities or fooling around in the air with a older model Block D F-16. Their missions are too dissimilar. A fighter bomber versus two totally devoted Air-to-Air fighters. Look at the F-16 fleet since so many of your brought them up on CB. Block upgrades every 4-5 years forever. Heck, we don't even give our partners our latest Block upgrades. Greece and Turkey only recently got gold tinted cockpits. (Radar evasion). Raptors are flying out of Langley and Alaska right now. It's all good. Regarding the JSF, there was a huge problem with landing gear for the Navy variant. It's been corrected by the gear being bulked-up (which of course led to issues with weight, thereby affecting range and payload.). Good stuff costs a lot. Wait till you guys get a peak at costs involved for robot fighters and manned/robot capable bombers. The AF and to a lesser extent the Navy has to spread their money all over various programs and projects.
