A new capacitor can be purchased online and easily be at your house within a few
days. The local guys can be crappy and not always want to sell to you cause you're not a contractor. I don't understand that attitude, but it's what some of them do. Capacitor's are cheaper online anyways.

You need to get to the old one first. Youtube has plenty of videos to provide examples on how to do this. It is NOT difficult to do in the least. Even a complete novice at fixing anything should be able to do it in less than half an hour. Once you have the old one in your hands, the size and type should be printed on it. AC capacitors usually are of the 3 prong variety, with one side of the capacitor to start the compressor motor and the other side to start the fan motor.

As others have noted, these things run for as cheap as $15. Happy hunting.
