HAPPY ENDING! after calling all morning, and pretty much every company sounding
annoyed that I knew it was an issue with the capacitor.. (thank you CB, you diagnosed this 100% correct) Trying to tell me the motor had to be replaced, that it would be $175 for house call $200 for a capacitor(even though I saw them on amazon for 30-40 bucks) and then anywhere from $300-500 based on whether I wanted a POS(their words) motor or a nice one. Then to top it off, they couldn't come until next week. Even if I had an emergency.. Everybody has an emergency, they said. Everybody is hot... I am sure the longer I wait, the more likely I am to give in. Well one of my wifes good friends knew a guy that Does AC repair on the side. He had a brand new capacitor with him. He came over and fixed it, 20 minutes... BOOM cool air. Fan outside running. He is a hero!! charged me $60. I gave him $30 dollar tip. He saved me so much aggravation. I probably got overzealous and overpaid him. But when my wife gets home, I am sure I will get a heros reward.
