I see the distinction. One hasn't had the opportunity for a better life. He is

still living in a bad place, with perhaps bad friends and bad people surrounding him. The other was given an opportunity, education and a chance at having a more successful life by making good choices.

I know...CW could make his own choices etc but he needs an opportunity to get out of his current situation. Maybe not at BYU. Who knows?
